Overview

The Oramenta Newsome Community Development Fellowship is a ten-week full-time paid opportunity for individuals interested in community development, focusing on affordable housing, economic development, sustainability, and safety projects in the D.C. region.

In Short

  • Ten-week full-time paid fellowship.
  • Focus on community development in D.C., Prince George’s County, or Northern Virginia.
  • Work with local nonprofit organizations.
  • Support local small businesses and community stakeholders.
  • Conduct outreach and gather data on community needs.
  • Engage in economic development initiatives.
  • Participate in orientation and mentorship programs.
  • Develop press materials for nonprofit partners.
  • Coordinate local events and resources.
  • Work approximately 35 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of community development issues preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in community outreach and engagement.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Willingness to work in-person at least 3 days a week.
  • Conversational fluency in additional languages is a plus.
