Staff Attorney - Remote

Overview

The Staff Attorney at KIND will provide expert legal services to unaccompanied children needing legal representation, engage in pro bono facilitation, and supervise legal staff.

In Short

• Provide legal representation to unaccompanied children.
• Mentor pro bono attorneys and provide technical assistance.
• Conduct legal research and formulate legal strategies.
• Oversee paralegals and ensure quality legal intakes.
• Make appearances in immigration court on behalf of children.
• Advocate for children's alternative placements.
• Supervise interns and non-attorney staff.
• Develop training resources for pro bono attorneys.
• Participate in office functioning and meetings.
• Ensure accurate case data entry into management systems.

Requirements

• J.D. and admission to the local state bar.
• Fluency in English and Spanish.
• Minimum 1 year experience in immigration law.
• Experience working with children, preferably immigrants.
• Experience with legal volunteers and pro bono attorneys.
• Strong cultural competence and communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-oriented environment.
