Senior Backend Software Engineer - Remote

At Employer.com, we’re scaling fast and building systems that power modern accounting and business operations. We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer with deep hands-on experience in backend systems, infrastructure, and cloud-native technologies.

In Short

• Design, build, and maintain high-performance backend services and infrastructure
• Own features end-to-end — from architecture and implementation to deployment and monitoring
• Write clean, well-tested, production-ready code with a focus on reliability and performance
• Collaborate closely with product, design, and infrastructure teams to deliver scalable solutions
• Drive improvements in scalability, observability, and fault tolerance across systems
• Help shape engineering best practices and mentor other team members

Requirements

• Deep, hands-on knowledge of backend development in languages like Typescript or Java
• Experience with databases: PostgreSQL, Aerospike, Redis, Cassandra, MongoDB
• Familiarity with streaming & messaging technologies: Apache Kafka, gRPC, REST APIs
• Knowledge of infrastructure & DevOps tools: Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform
• Experience with cloud platforms: AWS and/or GCP
• Understanding of CI/CD & observability tools: GitLab CI, ArgoCD, Prometheus, Grafana
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
• Experience in SaaS environments or B2B platforms
• Leadership or team lead experience, with a track record of mentoring others
• Excellent communication skills
