Crisis Helpline Responder - Remote

Overview

We're looking for a full time Crisis Helpline Responder with proven experience as a helpline counsellor or responder, and completed training in Crisis intervention or Suicide prevention.

In Short

• Responding to telephone hotline for crisis support of those bereaved through suicide.
• Conducting risk assessments, including lethality assessment for suicide cases.
• Providing a range of evidenced based, professional crisis counselling services.
• Assessing the caller's needs and triage for immediate safety or emergency medical attention.
• Maintaining accurate and detailed call reports on key issues and referrals actioned.
• Complying with responsibilities under the Data Protection Acts.
• Supporting in the development of appropriate crisis management plans.
• Making quick in-the-moment decisions on how to proceed.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a helpline counsellor or responder.
• Completed training in Crisis intervention or Suicide prevention.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Empathetic and compassionate approach.
• Understanding of mental health issues.
