Overview

The Associate Medical Record Retrieval Specialist is responsible for requesting and obtaining medical records from healthcare providers to ensure accurate documentation of members’ health conditions and optimize risk adjusted revenue for the organization.

In Short

  • Request and obtain medical records from healthcare providers.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of members' health conditions.
  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations for confidentiality.
  • Prepare hard copy medical records for conversion to electronic images.
  • Travel to provider offices and medical facilities as needed.
  • Track and document activity in all systems in a timely manner.
  • Work independently while offsite.
  • Maintain high attention to detail and organization.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Adapt to change and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Requirements

  • One year of prior healthcare or health insurance experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools: Outlook, Excel, Word, Visio.
  • Experience with EMR or EHR systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to handle confidential information securely.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Excellent time management skills.
