Overview

As a Staff Software Engineer on the Developer Productivity - Local Environments team, you will be a key player in defining, maintaining and enhancing the local development experience for our software engineering team at Gusto.

• Define and enhance the local development experience for software engineers.
• Ensure environments are consistently working and troubleshoot issues.
• Streamline initial setups and drive improvements to tooling and processes.
• Leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) to optimize development environments.
• Collaborate closely with engineers to understand their needs.
• Monitor and maintain the health of development environments.
• Diagnose and resolve local setup issues.
• Contribute to the development of internal platforms related to environments.

Requirements

• 12+ years of software development experience.
• Strong communication skills and systems thinking.
• Experience with Rails and Ruby.
• Knowledge of asynchronous processing using Sidekiq and/or Kafka.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
• Proven track record of improving developer productivity.
