Overview

As a Site Reliability Engineer at GitLab, you are responsible for keeping all user-facing services and other GitLab production systems running smoothly. Our SREs are a blend of pragmatic operators and software craftspeople that apply sound engineering principles, operational discipline, and mature automation to our operating environments and the GitLab codebase.

In Short

  • Automate operational tasks for GitLab environments.
  • Maintain and develop monitoring and alerting systems.
  • Respond to user emergencies and support requests.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve architectural bottlenecks.
  • Implement security measures for GitLab infrastructure.
  • Work with cloud provider systems like GCP and AWS.
  • Develop deployment packages for GitLab.
  • Enhance observability stack using tools like ELK and Prometheus.
  • Plan for service rollouts and resource optimization.
  • Engage with customers to resolve their requests.

Requirements

  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Experience in running and operating production workloads.
  • Strong programming skills in Ruby and/or Go.
  • Background in Infrastructure as Code technologies.
  • Ability to reason about large systems and their operations.
  • Enjoy collaboration across teams.
  • Experience with GitLab as a tool.
  • Customer-focused with a sense of urgency.
