Overview

The Hardware Engineer - Mechanical Design will be responsible for the mechanical design and development of Electronic Control Units (ECUs) for General Motors, focusing on innovative solutions in the automotive sector.

In Short

  • Hybrid work model with in-office presence required three times a week.
  • Develop mechanical and thermal designs for next-generation ECUs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design compatibility.
  • Perform design calculations and lead CAD reviews.
  • Conduct prototyping and testing of mechanical designs.
  • Engage with suppliers to align on ECU design.
  • Utilize 3D and 2D CAD tools for design tasks.
  • Drive mechanical design strategy across the enterprise.
  • Communicate design progress and risks effectively.
  • Contribute to the electrification and autonomous capabilities of GM's portfolio.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in electronics control module design.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (NX preferred).
  • Experience with connectors and headers design.
  • Strong analytical skills in solid mechanics and material science.
  • Hands-on experience with electronics manufacturers.
  • Exceptional collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.5-2009 standards is a plus.
  • Master’s degree in mechanical/industrial engineering preferred.
  • Understanding of thermal solutions and vibrational analysis.
