Overview

The Outreach and Admissions Counselor plays a vital role in recruiting eligible youth for the Job Corps Program, conducting outreach activities, and ensuring timely placement and retention of graduates in quality jobs or further education.

• Recruit eligible youth for the Job Corps Program.
• Conduct outreach activities in communities and public events.
• Meet departmental and center goals and objectives.
• Conduct orientation and interviews with applicants.
• Perform data entry and quality assurance checks on applicant files.
• Coordinate travel arrangements for applicants.
• Promote job development through direct contact with employers.
• Model appropriate employability skills.
• Ensure a safe and conducive environment at the center.
• Attend required staff training opportunities.

Requirements

• Above average public speaking and communication skills.
• Problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
• Computer literacy, especially MS Word.
• Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
• Experience working with youths ages 16-24.
• Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree with relevant experience.
• Experience with diverse youth populations.
• A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
