Geotechnical Engineer - Tunnel Specialist - Remote

Overview

We are looking for a qualified and experienced tunnel geotechnical engineer to join our team in Annecy, France. As a geotechnical engineer specializing in tunnels and underground structures, you will play a crucial role in the design, analysis, and sizing of underground works in France and abroad.

In Short

• Conduct geotechnical studies and site characterizations for tunnel projects.
• Analyze and interpret geotechnical data to assess geological and geotechnical conditions and identify uncertainties.
• Develop and review recommendations for tunnel design, including excavation methods and appropriate supports.
• Perform numerical modeling for underground structures.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the integration of geotechnical aspects into the overall project design.
• Write detailed technical reports, including geotechnical reports, calculation notes, and design notes.
• Supervise junior geotechnical engineers and contribute to their training and production control.
• Ensure compliance with French and international standards and regulations.

Requirements

• Engineering degree or Master's in geotechnics.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering for underground works and tunnel projects.
• Strong knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles, soil and rock mechanics, and tunnel design and construction techniques.
• Proficiency in geotechnical investigation methods and data analysis.
• Experience in underground construction and excavation techniques.
• Proficiency in geotechnical modeling software (PLAXIS, FLAC).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with great attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Knowledge of French and international tunnel construction standards and regulations.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical information clearly.
• Fluency in French and English (written and spoken) is essential.
