Principal Platform Engineer - Remote

Overview

The Principal Platform Engineer translates high level platform design into low level technical design and is responsible for implementing, administering, supporting, and patching their corresponding platforms. They work closely with Engineering Architects to enable the capabilities defined on roadmaps and blueprints supporting platform programs and initiatives, focusing on improving reliability and scalability of infrastructure.

• Installs, configures, and monitors applications and services in the OpenShift cluster.
• Assesses technical components to recommend platform improvements.
• Ensures stability, availability, performance, and security compliance of the platform.
• Collaborates with software delivery teams to build and support CI/CD pipelines.
• Maintains the catalog of services for the platform.
• Instruments and optimizes application and system performance.
• Forecasts and plans capacity increases for resource availability.
• Helps build and implement Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plans.
• Manages platform roadmap and communicates with stakeholders.
• Provides thought leadership on DevOps and Platform Engineering design.
• Mentors and develops engineers in a collaborative way.
• Participates in an on-call rotation with team members.

Requirements

• Experience with Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD practices.
• Experience in cloud and on-prem environments.
• Ability to assess and improve platform performance.
• Knowledge of disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
• Strong communication and project management skills.
• Experience working in Agile environments.
• Ability to mentor and lead teams.
