Overview

Overleaf is a scaleup and social enterprise that builds modern collaborative authoring tools for scientists, providing an online, real-time collaborative editor for documents written in LaTeX.

In Short

• Work with product managers and UX researchers for technical input on new development.
• Write high-quality frontend and backend code in JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Take code through to production, practicing DevOps.
• Participate in code reviews via GitHub pull requests.
• Engage in support rotation, providing second-line support for the product.
• Write documentation and detailed commit messages.
• Understand and avoid security pitfalls in development.
• Engage in retrospectives to improve software development processes.
• Work with your manager to develop personal and professional skills.
• Optionally participate in compensated on-call rotation after probation.

Requirements

• At least two years of experience building web applications.
• Experience with software development best practices like version control and continuous integration.
• Comfortable working in a fully remote team.
• Experience with core technologies: JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, and React is a bonus.
• Familiarity with technologies like Linux, Docker, and PostgreSQL is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication in English.
• Available during core hours (1400 to 1700 UK time) for occasional meetings.
