Cobol Developer - Remote

Overview

We are seeking Cobol/CICS Developers to support our Internal Revenue Service (IRS) - U.S. Treasury client. The Cobol Developers will provide development and testing of software applications on an enterprise server platform, additionally the Cobol Developers will work in the analysis of existing code and documenting code with a view to modernize the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

In Short

• Create, update, unit test, and maintain IBM COBOL programs.
• Update documentation such as Functional Specification Packages (FSPs) or Program Requirements Packages (PRPs).
• Track requirements and create/execute unit test cases.
• Rewrite programs and apply knowledge of computer capabilities.
• Consult with technical personnel to clarify program intent.
• Perform systems analysis and programming tasks.
• Compile and write documentation of program development.
• Prepare detailed workflow charts and diagrams.
• Lead the development of software solutions.
• Support users through troubleshooting and analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university required.
• At least five (5) years of relevant experience required.
• At least four (4) years of experience with IBM COBOL programming language.
• Experience with DB2 and IBM DB2 utilities.
• Experience with CICS.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to perform complex tasks with minimal supervision.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Willingness to participate in person client meetings in the DMV Metro Area.
• Must meet requirements for IRS Minimum Background Investigation clearance.
