A skilled COBOL/ALC Developer is needed to join a software modernization development project team, focusing on analyzing, maintaining, and enhancing legacy mainframe systems while contributing to the transformation and migration of applications to modern platforms.

• Analyze, design, develop, test, and maintain complex legacy mainframe applications using COBOL and ALC.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the modernization and migration of existing applications.
• Conduct thorough analysis of legacy systems to identify functional components and technical challenges.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including code analysis reports and modernization roadmaps.
• Provide system optimization, troubleshooting, and support for production issues.
• Participate in performance tuning, system integration testing, and quality assurance processes.
• Migrate data and programs while ensuring system stability and accuracy.
• Identify and resolve compatibility or performance issues between legacy and modernized systems.
• Adhere to coding standards and project timelines.
• Work closely with business analysts and modernization engineers to deliver efficient solutions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in COBOL development with expertise in mainframe technologies.
• Strong hands-on experience with Assembler Language Code (ALC).
• Deep understanding of IBM z/OS, JCL, and other mainframe tools.
• Experience in system analysis, debugging, and troubleshooting legacy code.
• Familiarity with data formats such as VSAM, DB2, and flat files.
• Exposure to modernization projects, including migration to modern platforms.
• Knowledge of tools such as Endevor, CA7, IMS, CICS, or similar.
• Ability to analyze existing code and documentation for system improvements.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills for collaboration across teams.
