The Certified Surgical Assistant assists the surgeon in the performance of approved surgical procedures, working under the direct supervision of the operating surgeon.

Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• Certification as a Certified Surgical Assistant or Certified Surgical First Assistant required within two years.
• 2 years of surgical assisting experience required.
• Preferred certifications include CST from AST, ABSA, and NBSTSA.
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support certification required upon hire.
• ACLS certification preferred upon hire.
