Systems Specialist / System Engineer - Remote

Overview

We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and open-minded Systems Specialist / System Engineer for our client in the logistics sector in Bern.

In Short

• Ensure monitoring of ongoing application operations
• Analyze and resolve application-related issues and errors
• Provide workarounds in case of application disruptions and errors
• Create customer-specific evaluations and statistics
• Collaborate on specifications, testing, and rollout for implementing application releases
• Conduct data cleansing and maintenance
• Change management: Plan, execute, and complete changes
• Conduct DR tests
• Plan and execute on-call duties
• Prioritize tickets with suppliers
• Incident management: Receive, plan, implement, and close incidents
• Inform application users about disruptions, application messages, and planned interruptions
• Coordinate and monitor activities to track availability, recoverability, performance, and resource consumption of the application
• Coordinate between support teams and application developers

Requirements

• Several years of experience in application operations and support
• Completed IT training (e.g., IT specialist, computer science degree, or related fields)
• LPIC-1 certification (LPIC-2 is an advantage)
• Knowledge in incident, change, and problem management (ITIL is an advantage)
• Experience with Linux operating systems (Red Hat Linux)
• Knowledge in container technologies (Podman, Docker is an advantage)
• Experience with automation tools (Ansible Tower)
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (Nagios, Grafana, Splunk, OpsGenie)
• Experience in certificate management (ordering, creation, troubleshooting)
• Basic scripting/engineering knowledge (e.g., YAML, SSH)
• Experience with data maintenance and cleansing
• Knowledge of agile methods (Scrum, Kanban)
• Analytical and solution-oriented thinking for troubleshooting
• Willingness to participate in on-call services
• Very good German language skills are mandatory, good English skills are an advantage
