Overview

Coinbase is seeking a passionate Senior Backend Engineer to help build a new crypto payment processing system, leveraging blockchain technology to disrupt traditional payment rails.

In Short

• Bring a 0-to-1 product to life to replace the global payment stack with crypto rails
• Design, develop, and maintain a scalable, reliable, and secure payment processing backend
• Work with frontend engineers to prototype user flows and productionize code
• Build backend orchestration for a novel open-source web3 payment protocol
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to find product market fit
• Maintain and improve upon an existing legacy codebase
• Follow engineering best practices for operational excellence
• Optimize backend performance for fast transaction processing
• Troubleshoot and debug complex fullstack issues

Requirements

• 6+ years of software development experience with a focus on backend
• Mastery of Go and/or Ruby; experience with Solidity is a plus
• Proven track record of shipping high-quality backend systems
• Solid understanding of Ethereum and smart contract development
• Experience with distributed systems and microservices architecture
• Familiarity with databases, caching systems, and message queues
• Experience with cloud providers and containerization technologies
• Understanding of web security best practices
• Exceptional problem-solving skills
• Outstanding communication and collaboration skills
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
