Overview

The Elevators Inspections unit ensures the operational safety, reliable service, and lawful use of vertical transportation devices throughout New York City. The Director will manage inspection and clerical staff to ensure safety compliance for various vertical transportation devices.

• Oversee and maintain Unit operations.
• Improve operational systems and processes.
• Manage projects to enhance inspectorial operations.
• Analyze performance data and prepare reports.
• Ensure excellent customer service.
• Develop training curricula for inspection teams.
• Investigate construction accidents and disasters.
• Provide guidance on compliance with safety regulations.
• Collaborate with other units to resolve issues.
• Perform other tasks as directed by the Assistant Commissioner.

Requirements

• Seven years of experience in mechanical systems or construction inspection.
• At least 18 months in a managerial or administrative capacity.
• Education in architecture, construction management, or related fields is a plus.
• Valid Motor Vehicle Driver License in New York.
• Experience with vertical transportation devices is essential.
