Agency Attorney - Remote

Overview

The Agency Attorney will work with the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development to enforce housing standards and regulations through litigation and legal advice.

In Short

• Serve as a Staff Attorney litigating cases in Housing Court.
• Execute negotiations on behalf of the agency.
• Research and prepare complex legal documents.
• Conduct trials and prepare witnesses.
• Advise on legal aspects of housing standards enforcement.
• Must be a member of the New York State Bar.
• Knowledge of NYC Housing Maintenance Code and NYS Multiple Dwelling Law.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
• Remote work eligibility up to 2 days per week.

Requirements

• Admission to the New York State Bar.
• One year of legal experience or six months as an Agency Attorney Intern.
• Must remain a member of the New York State Bar in good standing.
• Experience related to housing law preferred.
