Overview

The Leaving Care Criminal Justice Lead will play a crucial role in addressing the over-criminalisation of care-experienced young people, improving communication between justice services and local authority leaving care teams.

In Short

  • Serve as a point of contact between justice services and local authority leaving care teams.
  • Share and promote good practices around protocols and practices.
  • Develop and deliver a distinct training package for leaving care professionals.
  • Deliver training to Catch22’s Justice colleagues and wider professional network.
  • Facilitate online and in-person workshops to share good practice.
  • Amplify the voices of care-experienced young people involved in the justice system.
  • Explore tech options for improving communication links between services.
  • Work closely with HMPPS to support care experienced offenders.
  • Participate in the Young People’s Benchmarking Forum.
  • Contribute to policy influence and decision-making processes.

Requirements

  • Experience in criminal justice or care services.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop training materials and deliver training.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by care-experienced young people.
  • Experience in facilitating workshops and events.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of data sharing protocols.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Enhanced DBS screening required.
  • Willingness to travel nationally.
