Human Resources Manager (Contract) - Remote

Overview

The Human Resources Manager is a hands-on, operational HR professional responsible for executing and maintaining core HR functions with a strong focus on California compliance, systems administration, workforce planning support, and talent process execution.

• Administer and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
• Execute and manage California Alternate Work Schedule (AWS) processes.
• Handle employee relations matters and conduct investigations.
• Update and distribute HR policies and procedures.
• Maintain workforce data and support leadership with workforce planning.
• Serve as primary HRIS administrator for ADP Workforce Now.
• Generate regular and ad hoc HR reports.
• Utilize project management tools to track HR initiatives.
• Identify and recommend process improvements within HR systems.
• Experience in nonprofit and/or startup environments is preferred.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on HR experience.
• Strong working knowledge of California employment law.
• Experience administering Alternate Work Schedules (AWS).
• Experience supporting competency-based performance management.
• Advanced proficiency in ADP (Workforce Now preferred).
• Strong HRIS data management and reporting skills.
• Strong documentation, organization, and execution skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail.
