Overview

The Field Engineer at Boingo Wireless is responsible for simplifying complex wireless challenges and connecting people, businesses, and things through comprehensive knowledge of IP-based network systems, including Ethernet and Wi-Fi.

In Short

• Installing and maintaining Ethernet and Wi-Fi networks.
• Utilizing various distribution methods for network connectivity.
• Handling Tier 3 customer escalations and troubleshooting.
• Performing network monitoring and incident response.
• Collaborating with network engineers on configuration changes.
• Conducting proactive network performance monitoring.
• Managing installation contractor quality oversight.
• Assisting in technical scopes of work and project management.
• Providing Tier 2 customer support for network issues.
• Submitting purchase orders and timesheets accurately.

Requirements

• Knowledge of wireless technology standards (802.11 b/g/n/ac/ax).
• Ability to install and configure switches and access points.
• Experience with wireless design software (e.g., iBwave, Ekahau).
• Familiarity with military processes and environments.
• Proficiency in switch configurations and networking protocols.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to meet physical requirements of the role.
• Must pass military base access background check.
