Staff Software Engineer (Data & Machine Learning Operations) - Remote

Overview

BlackSky is looking for a talented and creative Staff Software Engineer to support the development, operation, and capability evolution of Spectra AI, BlackSky’s cutting-edge AI/ML Platform. This position is a critical element of the BlackSky AI/ML Engineering team and is expected to work collaboratively with internal satellite development teams to ensure success.

In Short

• Design and implement image and data label processing pipelines.
• Ensure high-quality and production-ready Python or GO code.
• Participate in the entire project lifecycle from requirements development to deployment.
• Lead MLOps software development projects and data ETL projects.
• Collaborate on technical roadmap and implementation strategy.
• Work with geospatial imagery and machine learning.
• Communicate software system results with stakeholders.
• Manage complex data at scale in relational data stores.
• Work in an agile development environment.
• Must be a US Citizen.

Requirements

• Minimum of eight years of software engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in computer science or related field.
• Experience with scalable production software solutions.
• Strong proficiency in Python3 or GO.
• Experience with databases and SQL queries.
• Hands-on experience with cloud services such as AWS.
• Exposure to machine learning is a plus.
• Strong communication skills.
• Experience with geospatial and image software stacks.
• Knowledge of MLOps and DataOps is preferred.
