Staff Attorney II, Employment Rights Project - Remote

Overview

Bet Tzedek seeks to enforce minimum labor standards in the workplace by assisting low-wage workers through a combination of individual representation, litigation, legislative advocacy, and community education.

In Short

• Work with the California Domestic Worker Coalition to enforce employment protections.
• Represent individual and groups of domestic workers before the Labor Commissioner and in courts.
• Conduct outreach and know your rights trainings in low-income communities.
• Participate in weekly clinics and develop additional domestic-worker focused clinics.
• Supervise volunteers and provide direct service in intake clinics.
• Engage in creative strategies to combat labor exploitation.
• Active member of the California State Bar required.
• 3-6 years of civil litigation experience preferred.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in job duties.

Requirements

• Active member of the California State Bar in good standing.
• Experience in civil litigation on behalf of low-wage workers and/or survivors of labor exploitation.
• Working knowledge of immigration humanitarian relief for victims of crime.
• Bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish.
• Experience training and working with volunteer attorneys and students preferred.
• Patience, compassion, and commitment to serving low-income workers.
• Commitment to principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
