Senior Security Compliance Specialist - SOX, SOC - Remote

Overview

Avalara is looking for a Security controls specialist to join our team, reporting to the Sr. Manager, Governance Risk and Compliance. You will collaborate with multiple teams to design an internal control environment for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

In Short

• Support the build-out of technical SOX controls.
• Assist in technology risk assessments.
• Help drive IT General Controls implementation.
• Work with cross-functional teams to develop process flows.
• Partner with teams to track control ownership and evidence collection.
• Coordinate documentation and migration of control information.
• Engage on multiple projects with stakeholders.
• Assist with ad hoc risk and compliance assessments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in IT Audit, IT Security, or IT Risk Management.
• Proven experience in systemic risk analysis.
• Familiarity with standards like ISO 27001, SOC, SOX, NIST.
• Strong understanding of application security principles.
• Deep knowledge of technical controls.
• Experience with business continuity and vendor risk management.
• Skilled in identifying business risks.
• Experience with risk management platforms is a plus.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
