Manager, Financial Reporting - Remote

Overview

Avalara is looking for a Manager of Financial Reporting to join our global accounting team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Technical Accounting and Reporting, the Manager of Financial Reporting supports compliance with US GAAP and SEC requirements, including internal control compliance. The Manager will also support technical accounting research and the implementation of new accounting policies related to reporting.

In Short

• You manage our external financial reporting process, review quarterly and annual financial statements, and ensure compliance with all U.S. GAAP disclosure and SEC reporting requirements, including ESG disclosures
• Guide the implementation of new disclosure requirements and updates to existing disclosures, ensuring compliance with GAAP and alignment with business strategy
• Manage debt compliance reporting, including covenant calculations and monitoring
• Design and monitor effectiveness of internal controls related to compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and ESG reporting requirements
• Support the annual audit and quarterly review activities with external auditors
• Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and provide clear variance explanations to partners
• Lead automation projects and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability of financial reporting
• Build relationships with partners to provide financial insights and help achieve strategic goals
• Manage other team members, which includes ensuring direct reports have the appropriate skills and support to achieve their goals

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
• Minimum of 4 years related job experience at public company and/or Big 4
• Minimum of 1 year managing direct reports
• Knowledge of US GAAP, auditing principles, ESG and SEC reporting guidance
• Knowledge of GAAP and ESG research tools and the FASB codification
• Experience reporting external US GAAP financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and SEC
