Assistant Underwriter - Remote

Overview

The Assistant Underwriter will support the Underwriting team in assessing borrowing requests through research, data analysis, and report drafting, contributing to the bank's market-leading turnaround times in commercial mortgage products.

• Support Underwriters with workflow management.
• Assess initial enquiries from Brokers and Relationship Managers.
• Produce clear documentation and recommendations for loan applications.
• Conduct customer due diligence and monitor controls.
• Liaise with Brokers and Relationship Managers for additional information.
• Deliver excellent service to customers and partners.
• Ensure compliance with policies and credit procedures.
• Understand operational procedures and service level agreements.
• Develop MI and KPI indicators for mortgage processing.
• Manage a personal development plan.

Requirements

• Understanding of loan documentation and credit risk preferred.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to build relationships with stakeholders and suppliers.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and internal policies.
• Understanding of TCF, AML, KYC, and Conduct risk.
• Flexibility to work outside standard hours if required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and technical systems.
