Director, State Government Affairs North Region - Remote

Overview

The Director, State Government Affairs is a strategic leader responsible for developing and executing comprehensive lobbying and advocacy strategies that shape state legislative and regulatory environments to support AbbVie’s business objectives.

In Short

• Lead state government affairs for the North Region covering Colorado, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, North and South Dakota, Wyoming.
• Develop and execute lobbying and advocacy strategies.
• Engage with state policymakers and regulators.
• Collaborate with internal business partners and external stakeholders.
• Manage outside consultants and state government affairs budget.
• Ensure compliance with lobbying and campaign finance laws.
• Represent AbbVie at political events and trade associations.
• Conduct analysis of state political and policy environments.
• Provide strategic advice to senior management on legislative impacts.
• Travel domestically as required (50%).

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, political science, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 8-10 years of experience in lobbying or public administration, preferably in healthcare.
• Strong executive presence and ability to influence stakeholders.
• Knowledge of state health programs and healthcare marketplace dynamics.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Experience in developing advocacy strategies and presentations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a demanding environment.
