Overview

The Wikimedia Foundation is looking for a Movement Communications Specialist to work with product and technology teams on their collaboration with Wikimedia communities.

• Craft agile communications strategies for product and technology activities.
• Deepen connections with online volunteer editors through multi-lingual communications.
• Regularly meet with product teams to understand project plans and challenges.
• Monitor community channels for news and proactively respond to questions.
• Facilitate two-way dialogue between Wikimedia communities and product teams.
• Make communications more inclusive by addressing gaps among underrepresented groups.
• Communicate the Foundation’s work to build trust and understanding.
• Contribute to best practices in Movement Communications.
• Support the Movement Communications team with other organizational priorities.

Requirements

• Excellent written English and fluency in at least one other language.
• Organized, efficient, and able to meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of Wikimedia communities' dynamics and cultures.
• Familiarity with the product development lifecycle.
• Comfortable leading discussions in multiple formats and languages.
• Experience with agile communications strategies across channels.
• Emotionally mature and self-reliant.
• Competence in remote and intercultural team settings.
• Experience working with both technical and non-technical individuals.
