Overview

Wealthsimple is seeking an experienced Senior PostgreSQL Administrator to join their Data Stores team, responsible for managing PostgreSQL database environments that support critical financial operations and client data.

In Short

• Design, implement, and maintain PostgreSQL database infrastructure.
• Monitor database performance and implement optimizations.
• Develop and maintain backup/recovery procedures.
• Implement and manage database security measures.
• Create Python scripts for automation and monitoring.
• Collaborate with engineering teams for schema and query optimization.
• Provide guidance on database best practices.
• Plan and execute database upgrades and migrations.
• Create and maintain documentation for database architecture.
• Participate in on-call rotation for database issues.

Requirements

• 5+ years of PostgreSQL administration experience.
• Proficient in Python scripting.
• Strong understanding of PostgreSQL internals and performance tuning.
• Experience with high-availability deployments and disaster recovery.
• Knowledge of database security best practices.
• Experience with database monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Solid understanding of indexing strategies and query optimization.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL extensions.
• Knowledge of cloud-based PostgreSQL implementations.
• Familiarity with Terraform and GitHub.
