• Develop evaluation frameworks for autonomous vehicle performance, large-scale ML models, and simulation quality.
• Develop new metrics, interpret trends, and investigate anomalies in data.
• Develop novel statistical methods for unique AV data challenges.
• Frame and solve ambiguous problems by scoping technical priorities.
• Derive data-driven conclusions and communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Establish yourself as the point-of-contact for significant project areas.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering partners on the Waymo Driver.
• Mentor other data scientists and provide constructive feedback.

Requirements

• Degree in a quantitative field (e.g. Statistics, Mathematics, Physics).
• 5+ years of industry experience in data science or a PhD with 3+ years.
• Expertise in advanced statistical methods and familiarity with ML systems.
• Knowledge of Python/SQL/R data analysis libraries.
