In Short

• Lead the overall compliance framework and strategy for the organization, ensuring adherence to both EU and Bulgarian regulatory requirements.
• Provide expert guidance on national AML legislation, leveraging local Bulgarian law expertise to implement effective controls and risk mitigation strategies.
• Monitor, review, and interpret regulatory changes, advising senior management about potential impacts on operations and required adjustments.
• Oversee and manage an internal risk assessment program related to compliance and AML activities.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve policies, procedures, and controls related to compliance and AML.
• Conduct regular internal audits and assessments of compliance and AML controls.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies and external auditors during examinations.
• Provide training and guidance to staff on compliance and AML regulations.
• Prepare and present comprehensive compliance reports to the executive team and board of directors.
• Track analytics on company’s project compliance KPIs.

Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of direct experience in compliance roles with a specialization in AML law.
• Demonstrable local knowledge of Bulgarian AML legislation and regulations.
• Solid understanding of risk management principles within the financial services industry.
• Proven ability to interpret and advise on updates to regulatory frameworks.
• Experience within a regulated financial institution, ideally an EMI or similar.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
• Experience with online platforms rules and privacy compliance matters.
• Fluency in Bulgarian and English, both written and spoken.
