Database Administrator (Remote Opportunity)

Overview

VetsEZ is seeking a Database Administrator to be a part of a remote team supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs. The ideal candidate needs to have experience and knowledge in database design, coding, testing, debugging and documentation of software in a variety of programming languages.

• Analyze, maintain, and optimize PostgreSQL database environment.
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks, optimize SQL queries.
• Update database architecture and manage permissions.
• Monitor systems for availability and oversee database mirroring.
• Support advanced PostgreSQL features.
• Generate queries and reports using PostgreSQL tools.
• Create and maintain PostgreSQL databases.
• Restore databases from backups and support disaster recovery.
• Collaborate with developers and IT teams.
• Assess future storage and performance needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science or Engineering.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience.
• Strong proficiency in database administration.
• Experience with AWS and Azure.
• Experience with automation tools and scripting languages.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
