Senior Quantitative Scientist, ML/NLP - Remote

Overview

As Verana Health reinvents how research happens with data and technology in the healthcare space, we are growing our Quantitative Sciences team to solve complex real-world problems across multiple therapeutic areas, including urology, ophthalmology, and neurology.

In Short

• Develop and leverage state-of-the-art advances in natural language processing using pre-trained large language models (LLMs).
• Drive cutting-edge research on language modeling with emphasis on scientific accuracy and explainability.
• Communicate analysis results via presentations to a multi-disciplinary audience.
• Establish and maintain best practices for data exploration and model development.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with teams to translate clinical investigation questions into data analytics requirements.
• Provide mentorship and knowledge sharing to team members.
• Work on Qdata development to enable commercial projects leveraging real-world data.
• Strong familiarity with programming languages and coding platforms.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with high attention to detail.
• Clear communication skills for internal/external presentations.

Requirements

• Doctorate in a quantitative discipline with 3+ years of experience or Master’s with 5+ years of experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with messy data and analytical methodologies.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with machine learning model implementation.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with state-of-the-art natural language models.
• Strong familiarity with programming languages, especially Python, Pyspark, R, SQL.
• Strong familiarity with coding platforms, especially Databricks and Amazon Sagemaker.
• Familiarity with clinical datasets and coding systems.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Clear communication skills and able to deliver presentations.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
