Oncology Data Specialist - Remote

Overview

The Oncology Data Specialist will play a vital role in advancing cancer research and improving patient outcomes through comprehensive data collection and analysis at the O’Neal Cancer Center.

In Short

• 100% remote position.
• Review clinical documentation to extract data and apply ICDO-O codes.
• Code, stage, and abstract cases of cancer and reportable benign tumors.
• Participate in research and quality improvement activities.
• Maintain data integrity and compliance with guidelines.
• Perform data quality control activities.
• Prepare reports for tumor conferences and special studies.
• Contact patient providers for follow-up information.
• Ensure confidentiality of all information.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited Health Information Technology program.
• Currently certified as an Oncology Data Specialist (ODS).
• 5+ years of experience in tumor registry.
• Experience in a Level 1 Trauma and COC accredited hospital.
• Knowledge of ICD-O and ICD-10 CM/PCS coding.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
