Overview

The Value Based Care Coder Educator is responsible for abstracting medical record diagnosis codes based on clinical documentation and ensuring compliance with various coding guidelines and regulations.

• Abstract medical record diagnosis codes adhering to ICD-10-CM guidelines.
• Implement coding guidance for various risk adjustment programs.
• Maintain a minimum of 95% accuracy on coding quality audits.
• Assist with provider education on documentation improvement.
• Make recommendations for process improvements in coding.
• Stay updated on trends and regulations in risk adjustment.
• Participate in developing key performance indicators.
• Collaborate with leadership, staff, and vendors.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in healthcare or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in Medicare/Medicaid Risk Adjustment models.
• Experience with EPIC, Cerner, and/or NextGen.
• Certified Risk Coder certification from AAPC.
• Preferred certifications from AHIMA or AAPC.
• Advanced knowledge of the Affordable Care Act.
• Ability to manage project work and generate innovative solutions.
• Advanced skills in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
