Overview

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) works under the direct supervision of Registered Nurses to provide patient care and support in the Neuroscience Clinics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

In Short

  • Work under the supervision of Registered Nurses.
  • Perform tasks that do not require a license or professional judgment.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
  • Assist with grooming, hygiene, and comfort measures for patients.
  • Document patient care activities accurately and timely.
  • Participate in a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
  • Follow departmental policies and procedures.
  • Must complete required competencies within three months of hire.
  • Physical demands include standing, walking, and lifting.
  • Work in a medical facility environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • CPR Certification within three months of hire.
  • Successful completion of a patient care technician course within three months of hire.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to follow oral instructions.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong work ethics and accountability.
  • Preferred: Certification as a nursing assistant or military corpsman.
  • Preferred: Patient care experience in an acute or outpatient care setting.
