Senior Full-stack Engineer (Platform Foundation) - Remote

Overview

The Platform Foundation Team owns the core functionality of Toptal’s primary internal application platform and many adjacent services. Many of them are used by both our staff and external users (our clients and members of our talent network). We’re looking for someone who is comfortable working across the front-end and back-end of some of those apps.

In Short

• Work on multiple applications targeting diverse business domains.
• Utilize Node.js and Ruby back-ends along with React front-ends.
• Push the boundaries on what’s possible in software development.
• Write elegant, efficient, and testable code.
• Integrate features with React components and implement APIs.
• Mentor team members and improve team processes.
• Participate in company-wide training sessions.
• Lead technical initiatives and suggest process improvements.
• Understand Toptal’s technical stack and collaboration rituals.
• Contribute to product development and codebase improvements.

Requirements

• 3+ years of web development experience with Node and React.
• Understanding of backend principles, databases, and best practices.
• Experience with modern JavaScript, preferably TypeScript.
• Knowledge of Ruby or similar languages is a plus.
• Outstanding written and communication skills.
• Able to tackle complex problems and consider multiple solutions.
• Thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment.
• Must be a world-class individual contributor.
