Senior/Head of Product - Remote

Currently, we are looking for a Senior/Head of Product for The Kyiv Independent.

The Kyiv Independent is Ukraine’s main English-language news outlet. It was founded in November 2021 by a team of reporters and editors who were fired from the Kyiv Post for defending editorial independence, in partnership with a media consultancy company Jnomics. Today, it’s a team of around 70 people based mostly in Kyiv. Publishing in English, we serve as Ukraine’s voice in the world and the world’s window into Ukraine.

In Short

• Design & implement a product strategy & roadmap for the Kyiv Independent.
• Work with the company’s top management to ensure product strategy aligns with overall development.
• Grow and lead the product & technology team.
• Guide the engineering team on UX improvements.
• Lead the development of mobile app and digital platforms.
• Implement A/B testing strategies for product growth.
• Use audience data to inform product decisions.
• Identify and manage external partnerships.
• Stay updated with industry best practices in digital media.
• Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Experience as a Senior Product Manager / Head of Product.
• Media industry experience is a plus.
• Strong command of the English language.
• Strong business sense and data-driven decision-making.
• Effective communication skills.
• Leadership skills with goal-setting abilities.
• Understanding of news and current affairs in Ukraine is advantageous.
• Knowledge of the values of the Kyiv Independent.
