Overview

The Data Engineer will support the Center for Media Engagement's research on connective democracy, maintaining and managing a data archive system and collaborating with researchers.

In Short

Maintain a data archive system for static and streaming data.
Collect and support new datasets for research.
Manage security of data archives including encryption and access protocols.
Document datasets and processes for research initiatives.
Wrangle data and perform ETL procedures.
Support researchers with computational methods.
Engage in software development as needed.
Work collaboratively with diverse teams.
Contribute to open-source initiatives.
Follow emerging trends in computational research.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree with relevant experience.
Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and Hadoop.
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Experience with data scraping and APIs.
Clear communication skills.
Master's degree and six years of experience preferred.
Knowledge in machine learning and data science software.
Experience with social media data and signal processing.
Ability to develop classifiers for research projects.
Adaptability to emerging computational research trends.
