Senior Medical Coder (Outpatient) - Remote

Overview

The Senior Medical Coder (Outpatient) is responsible for coding medical records and other documents to ensure accurate reimbursement and data collection for the OSU Health System.

In Short

• Responsible for coding inpatient and outpatient medical records.
• Assigns diagnosis and procedural codes using ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT-4.
• Maintains productivity and quality standards for coding.
• Abstracts medical record data for accuracy.
• Utilizes Computer Assisted Coding/Encoder Software.
• Addresses edits during coding and abstracting processes.
• Maintains an approved work schedule and submits weekly volume logs.
• Requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
• Must have appropriate coding credentials.
• Position is remote and full-time.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in Health Information Management.
• Credentialed as Registered Health Information Technician or similar.
• 2 years of relevant coding experience required.
• Familiarity with computer assisted coding.
• Completion of CAHIIM approved coding certificate program.
• Demonstrated coding proficiency through testing.
