Overview

The Athletic is seeking a Mobile Engineer to own key aspects of their native Android application, contributing to core features and architecture while ensuring a beautiful user experience.

In Short

• Work with Design and Product teams to build UI that is beautiful and performant.
• Architect and build the app for performance, growth, and scalability.
• Write unit and functional tests to ensure app quality.
• Investigate and fix user-reported production issues.
• Brainstorm new product ideas with design and product teams.
• Refactor existing code to improve quality of life for engineers.
• Collaborate within a highly cross-functional team.

Requirements

• 2+ years experience with native Android development in Kotlin.
• Consumer-facing product instincts and desire to influence product decisions.
• Preferred experience in GraphQL and Jetpack.
• Experience in an early-stage startup is a plus.
• Passion for sports and media is helpful but not required.
