FinOps Engineer - Remote

Overview

Supabase is an Open Source and fully remote company building developer tools for databases. We are seeking a FinOps Engineer to drive cost optimization and financial governance for our AWS infrastructure. This role will collaborate closely with engineering, finance, and operations teams to enhance cloud cost efficiency, establish best practices, and implement FinOps methodologies.

In Short

• Analyze AWS and GCP billing, usage, and cost trends to identify optimization opportunities.
• Implement cost-saving strategies, such as rightsizing and instance scheduling.
• Establish tagging policies and cost allocation mechanisms.
• Optimize data transfer costs and storage lifecycle policies.
• Monitor spot instances and compute savings opportunities.
• Define and enforce FinOps best practices.
• Collaborate with finance to forecast cloud expenses and create budgets.
• Work with engineering teams to align architecture decisions with cost efficiency.
• Implement automated cost reporting and anomaly detection.
• Utilize AWS and GCP tools for cost insights.

Requirements

• Strong AWS and GCP expertise.
• Deep understanding of AWS and GCP pricing models.
• Experience with FinOps tools and cloud cost management platforms.
• Automation & scripting skills (Python, Terraform, AWS Lambda).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code.
• Ability to analyze cost data and present insights.
• AWS Certified FinOps Practitioner or similar certification.
• Previous experience in a FinOps or cloud governance role.
