Overview

The Department of Environmental Protection, Division of Air Quality Assessment, is seeking to fill a Chemist I vacancy in Augusta. This position involves supporting the Air Monitoring Section by providing laboratory analyses and quality assurance oversight.

In Short

  • Independent set-up, operation, and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation.
  • Processing and validation of laboratory generated data.
  • Development of standard operating procedures and quality assurance plans.
  • Improving laboratory operations and analysis results.
  • Preparing quality control standards and reagents.
  • Maintenance of sampling canisters and shipping records.
  • Assisting with field auditing as a back-up auditor.

  • Preference for applicants with experience in laboratory analytical methods.

Requirements

  • A four-year combination of education, training, and/or experience in chemistry or a related field.
  • Experience with EPA's TO-15 method for volatile organic compounds.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance/quality control principles.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining Quality Assurance Project Plans.
