Senior Privacy Counsel - Remote

Overview

Stack Overflow is looking for a high caliber, experienced, and creative privacy attorney to join the legal team. This individual will report into the Chief Legal Officer and will support the business in building trustworthy, privacy-first products and services.

In Short

• Support product and engineering teams on privacy-related matters.
• Advise on GDPR and data governance.
• Negotiate data protection terms in commercial agreements.
• Collaborate with InfoSec for security certifications.
• Provide legal support to enable effective business operations.
• Drive completion of multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Maintain subject matter expertise in data protection laws.
• Interact with senior business leaders effectively.
• Draft and review commercial contracts.
• Advise on global privacy laws and regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Juris Doctor (JD) Degree from an accredited law school.
• Membership with good standing in at least one U.S. State Bar.
• 6+ years of legal practice experience, preferably in-house.
• Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with privacy legislation including GDPR and CCPA.
• Significant experience in drafting commercial contracts.
• Ability to translate legal advice into actionable policies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Global thinker and collaborator.
