Overview

The Technical Accounting Manager at Sonar is responsible for managing technical accounting research projects and ensuring compliance with accounting standards while effectively communicating financial information to stakeholders.

In Short

• Lead the charge on technical accounting for non-revenue contracts.
• Conduct deep-dive research to draft technical accounting memos.
• Guide the team on handling non-routine deals.
• Partner with FP&A to prepare quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP.
• Identify opportunities to streamline financial reporting processes.
• Mentor and coach team members in technical accounting.
• Collaborate cross-functionally across the organization.
• Maintain internal controls for external reporting.
• Stay updated on new accounting standards and regulatory changes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
• 5-7 years of client-facing public accounting experience.
• Excellent knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
• Proven ability to collaborate with multiple departments.
• Strong communication skills for credibility at all levels.
• Solid accounting, analytical, and research skills.
• Experience mentoring and coaching team members.
• Comfort working with multi-location companies.
• Workiva wDesk experience is a plus.
