Operational Support Specialist - Marine Weather - Remote

Sofar is on a mission to connect the world’s oceans. We design, build, and deploy the largest privately owned network of marine weather sensors to power the world’s best marine weather forecasts. Our data helps our customers to increase efficiency and reduce emissions, delivering tools to governments and other stakeholders to understand impacts of climate change on extreme weather and ocean health. In Short

• You will be part of a small fast-moving team focused on ocean-related tasks.
• Perform operational tasks including ship routing support and data management.
• Work remotely from the APAC region while communicating with the San Francisco headquarters.
• Must have strong time management skills and the ability to work independently.
• Experience in the shipping or maritime industry is required.
• Comfortable with data analysis and modern web applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Ability to work five 8-hour shifts per week.
• A passion for the oceans is important.
• Bonus points for data visualization skills and multilingual abilities.

Requirements

• Experience working in the shipping or maritime industry, specifically with ship or weather routing.
• Comfortable with data analysis, modern web applications, and python.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, having communicated with customers around the globe.
• Experience working with team members across time zones.
• A passion for and/or connection to the oceans.
• Ability to work five 8-hour shifts per week (either Thursday-Monday schedule or Tuesday-Saturday schedule).
