Overview

Sentara is currently hiring a Patient Care Technician to work at Sentara Leigh Hospital located in Norfolk on the Post Op Recovery Unit, focusing on providing excellent care to post-op patients.

In Short

  • Full-time position with day shifts from approximately 6am to 6pm.
  • Requires working 2-3 weekends per 6-week schedule.
  • Accountable to and works under the direct supervision of a professional nurse.
  • Involves implementing delegated aspects of nursing care.
  • Observe and report patients' conditions to the nurse.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • BLS Certification required within 90 days of hire.
  • One year of prior healthcare experience preferred.

Requirements

  • Completion of a relevant certification program (e.g., CNA, NCPCT).
  • Current work experience as a PCT or Nursing Assistant is advantageous.
  • Must have completed at least one semester of a clinical program in nursing or related fields.
  • Ability to provide patient care and support admissions and discharge processes.
  • Comply with patient safety practices under the direction of a nurse.
