Legal Secretary (General Counsel Division) - Remote

Overview

The Oregon Department of Justice is seeking to hire two experienced Legal Secretaries to support attorneys in providing comprehensive legal advice and litigation support to state agencies.

In Short

• Support attorneys with legal documentation and correspondence.
• Coordinate meetings and hearings with various stakeholders.
• Manage case files and ensure timely filing of documents.
• Provide administrative support to section personnel.
• Handle inquiries from the public and other legal personnel.

Requirements

• Two years of clerical/secretarial experience, with one year in a legal setting.
• Proficiency in word processing software.
• Experience in preparing and proofreading legal documents.
• Knowledge of legal terminology and court procedures.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
• Good problem-solving skills and information gathering techniques.
• Judgment and discretion in applying laws and policies.
• Experience managing calendars for attorneys or court officials.
• Experience in legal research and applying legal information.
