Overview

The Billing Narrative proofreader is responsible for all aspects of accuracy and consistency of billing narratives, ensuring proper coding of entries and compliance with Outside Counsel Guidelines.

• Proofread complex legal billing narratives for accuracy and consistency.
• Review and edit time entries for proper coding and compliance.
• Follow up with timekeepers and assistants as necessary.
• Ensure client specific needs are met while confirming internal policies.
• Compare documents against originals for accurate translation.
• Check accuracy of cross references and defined terms.
• Conduct checks for format and statistical data accuracy.
• Ensure clarity and completeness of invoices.
• Communicate with law firms and clients for consistency in billing.
• Maintain confidentiality and work effectively in a team.

Requirements

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in English, Business, Finance, or related field.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Minimum four years of billing experience in a law firm recommended.
• Familiarity with legal terminology and document formats.
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail is required.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
• Experience with Aderant or Elite/Elite 3E preferred.
